As per reports, Australian Capital Territory (ACT) police have placed roadblocks in Whitlam, a suburb of Canberra following reports of an active shooting event on Wednesday (24 December) afternoon hours.

As per the ACT Policing updates, an operation is currently underway in the area. No injury or fatality have been reported yet.

• Heavily armed police were seen in position with their weapons drawn, while a person of interest has been taken into custody, as stated by the authorities.
• Whitlam residents were told to stay indoors for their own safety while a police operation responding to a person reportedly armed with a gun.
• The entire street around the Hazel Hawkes Avenue, has reportedly been closed to the public as a dozen police units and two fire trucks are in the area.
