Active shooter alert issued for areas in and Around Tumbler Ridge on Tuesday (10 February)

According to reports, Tumbler Ridge Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) responded to a confirmed active shooter incident at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School in northeastern British Columbia on Tuesday afternoon (10 February).

• Officers arrived on scene at 1320 hours local time (2120 hours UTC) and issued an emergency alert at 1415 hours local time (2215 holrs UTC) on Tuesday (10 February) covering Tumbler Ridge, Chetwynd, Dawson Creek, and surrounding areas.
• RCMP confirmed in a news release issued at 1516 hours local time (2316 hours UTC) on Tuesday (10 February) that the original suspect is believed to have been located deceased, while investigators work to determine whether a second suspect was involved and the total number of victims.
• The suspect was described as a female in a dress with brown hair; authorities ordered residents in the Tumbler Ridge area to stay inside and shelter in place, lock doors, and refrain from leaving homes or businesses.
