5.3 magnitude earthquake reported in China on Sunday (31 December)

As per reports, a magnitude 5.3 earthquake was reported near Baiyin, Gansu, China at 2227 hours (local time), at a depth of 10 kilometres (km) below the surface.

Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
