The Meteorological Department of Indonesia (BMKG) reported a 4.7 magnitude earthquake in the Northern Maluku Sea near West Halmahera Regency on Monday (23 March) at around 1825 hours (local time).

The reported depth of the earthquake was 90 kilometres. No human casualty or property damage has been reported so far. Further details awaited.
