As per the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA), an earthquake of magnitude 4.6 was recorded in the adjacent sea of Miyakojima Island, Okinawa Prefecture, at 2042 hours (local time) on Tuesday (10 March).

The earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 km, with the epicenter located at coordinates 24.1degree North latitude and 125.2 degree East longitude. No tsunami warning was issued following the event.
