The Badan Meteorologi, Klimatologi dan Geofisika (BMKG) has reported that an earthquake of 4.2 magnitude occurred at a distance of 131 kilometres South Halmahera Regency in Indonesia, at around 0526 hours (local time) on Wednesday (25 March).

It occurred at a depth of 10 kilometres.
