The United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported a 4.1 magnitude earthquake five kilometres south-southeast of Maizuru city in Japan, at approximately 2059 hours (local time) on Monday (09 March).

The earthquake was reported at a depth of 364.5 kilometres.
