As of 0500 hours (local time), Typhoon Bavi was located approximately 750 kilometres east of Eluanbi at 20.5 degrees North latitude and 127.9 degrees East longitude. The typhoon was moving northwest at 22 kilometres per hour with a minimum central pressure of 940 hectopascals, maximum sustained winds of 45 metres per second near the centre, and gusts of up to 55 metres per second.
• The typhoon is forecast to move to approximately 300 kilometres east of Taipei by early Saturday (11 July) while continuing northwestward. Bavi is expected to pass close to northeastern Taiwan before moving towards the East China Sea.
• Land warnings are currently in effect for New Taipei City, Yilan County and Hualien County. Sea warnings remain in effect for the Bashi Channel and the offshore waters of northern, northeastern and southeastern Taiwan.
• Authorities have maintained work and school suspensions across several northern localities, including Taipei, New Taipei, Taoyuan, Hsinchu and Hualien, as strong winds and torrential rainfall are expected from Friday (10 July) through Saturday (11 July).
• All passenger ferry services along Taiwan’s eastern coast remain suspended, including the Keelung–Matsu route and multiple services connecting Kaohsiung, Budai, Penghu, Donggang, Yanpu and Xiaoliuqiu. Maritime operators continue to advise passengers to monitor service announcements before travel.
• Airlines continue to adjust operations due to the approaching typhoon.
