Description:
As per reports, a forest and land fire continues to affect the Mount Bromo tourism area in East Java on Wednesday (05 August).
• Authorities stated that the burned area has expanded to approximately 10 hectares, increasing from the previously estimated 7.9 hectares, as strong winds and dry vegetation continue to fuel the fire.
• Joint firefighting teams comprising personnel from the Probolinggo Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), East Java BPBD, Perhutani, TNI/Polri, the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park (TNBTS) Center, disaster response agencies, volunteers, and local communities are continuing suppression operations.
• Firefighting efforts are being hampered by damaged equipment, with responders using tree branches, backpack sprayers, and firebreaks to contain the blaze.
• Due to the ongoing wildfire, the TNBTS Center has closed the Jemplang, Coban Trisula, and Senduro entrances to Mount Bromo since 2200 hours (local time) on Monday (03 August) until further notice.
• Tourist access remains available only through the Cemoro Lawang entrance in Probolinggo Regency and the Wonokitri entrance in Pasuruan Regency, with restrictions on accessible visitor areas.
