Description:
As per reports, high-intensity rainfall accompanied by strong winds affected Southwest Aceh Regency, from the afternoon into the night on Thursday (13 August).
The affected areas were Babahrot, Setia, and Tangan-Tangan sub-districts. Following are the additional details:
• In Babahrot, flooding affected Gampong Ie Mirah and Gampong Pante Rakyat. Residential areas in Ie Mirah were inundated by approximately 20–30 cm of water, while flooding in Pante Rakyat affected residential and market areas as well as the national road.
• In Setia, flooding was reported in Gampong Tangan-Tangan Cut, affecting residential areas and national roads and blocking waterways.
• In Tangan-Tangan, flooding occurred in Gampong Padang Kawa following river overflow and the closure of the estuary. Gampong Mesjid was also affected by overflow from the Krueng Tangan-Tangan watershed, inundating residential areas and inter-village road access.
