Description:

As per reports, Romanian Navy Day events are scheduled across six cities in Romania on Saturday (15 August).

• The main events are scheduled in Constanța from 1000 hours local time (0700 hours UTC) along the seafront and maritime area in front of the Fleet Command building. More than 3,500 Romanian and foreign military personnel are scheduled to participate in a military ceremony and the joint and inter-institutional naval exercise Romanian Naval Forces 26.10 (FNR 26.10).
• In Constanța, evening activities are scheduled to begin at 2000 hours local time (1700 hours UTC) with a concert followed by a torchlight procession along the Casino, Ovidiu Square and the seafront in front of Fleet Command. A laser and light show is scheduled at Tomis Port between 2130 and 2200 hours local time (1830 and 1900 hours UTC).
• In Bucharest, a military and religious ceremony is scheduled from 0900 to 1000 hours local time (0600 to 0700 hours UTC) at the Monument to the Sailors’ Heroes in King Michael I Park (former Herastrau Park).
• In Mangalia, a demonstration exercise is scheduled from 1000 hours local time (0700 hours UTC), while military and religious ceremonies, naval exercises, concerts and ship parades are scheduled in Brăila, Tulcea and Galați.
• Brăila’s activities are scheduled from 1000 to 1230 hours local time (0700 to 0930 hours UTC), Tulcea’s river demonstrations from 1000 hours local time (0700 hours UTC), and Galați’s programme from 1700 hours local time (1400 hours UTC).

Impact:

• The concentration of military, naval and public activities is expected to cause increased congestion and slower movement around the event locations. Access to areas hosting public events may be restricted or subject to temporary controls.
• Commercial and recreational maritime movements in or around exercise areas may be affected by temporary coordination requirements or access restrictions to facilitate the large-scale maritime exercise, aprticularly in Constanta.
• The deployment of military and civilian aircraft is likely to result in increased aviation activity around Constanța during the exercise period. Temporary disruption or delays may affect normal aviation operations in areas associated with the demonstrations.
• Similar but smaller-scale disruptions are expected around event locations in Mangalia, Brăila, Tulcea and Galați, particularly along waterfront areas and locations hosting ceremonies, demonstrations and ship parades.
• Increased visitor numbers are also anticipated to place additional pressure on local road networks and public spaces.

Recommendations:

It is advised to anticipate disruptions, delays and temporary access restrictions and allow additional time when travelling, especially through major cities mentioned.
