Description:

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported a magnitude 4.2 earthquake approximately 36 kilometers southwest of Balut Island, Davao Occidental, at 1359 hours (local time) on Wednesday (05 August).

The earthquake occurred at a depth of 22 kilometers.

Impact:

No damage has been reported so far. However, light tremors may have been felt in areas nearer the epicenter. The possibility of aftershocks and further seismic activity cannot be ruled out.
