The Howrah Police Commissionerate has announced traffic restrictions ahead of the Snan-Yatra (Ritual Bathing Procession) of Sitala Mata (Goddess) festival between Sunday-Monday (01-02 February).
The restrictions for goods vehicles will be in effect from 0230 hours (local time) to 1200 hours (local time) on Sunday (01 February) to Monday (02 February), and for all other vehicles from 1000 hours (local time) until completion of the Yatra on Sunday (01 February). The details are as follows:
• Restrictions on goods vehicles will be enforced on key arterial routes across Howrah, including stretches along NH-19 from Bamundanga Island to Nimtala Crossing, GT Road between Nimtala, Bally, Pilkhana and Salkia, Benaras Road between Kona Crossing, Bamungachi Bridge, Belgachia and Shanpur, and connecting corridors via Goshala Road, Natabar Pal Road, CTI Bazar–CTI More, ‘A’ Road, Jhil Road and Liluah Flyover under Liluah Police Station.
• In addition, movement of all types of vehicles, except those used by school or college students or for examination purposes, will be suspended from 1000 hours (local time) on Sunday (01 February 2026) until completion of the Snan-Yatra on major stretches across GT Road, Salkia Crossing, Bandhaghat, Liluah Station Road, J. N. Mukherjee Road, Salkia School Road, Dharmatala Road, Ahmed Mamuji Road, Dobson Road, Dr. Abani Dutta Road and Bijay Mukherjee Road, including access points near T L Jaiswal Hospital.
• Further traffic restrictions will apply on feeder and approach roads across Belgachia, Salkia, Bandhaghat, Shanpur, Dasnagar, Tikiapara and Rathtala, including sections of Natabar Pal Road, Benaras Road, Howrah-Amta Road, Sailen Manna Sarani (Drainage Canal Road), East-West Bypass, Jeliapara Lane and Upendra Mitra Lane.
