As per reports, Trenord, the primary regional rail operator in Lombardy, Italy, has issued an official notice that rail staff have called a 24-hour strike affecting train services from 0300 hours local time (0200 hours UTC) on Monday (02 January) until 0200 hours local time (0100 hours UTC) on Tuesday (03 January).
• During this period, scheduled regional and suburban trains, as well as long-distance and Milan airport connections operated by Trenord, may be cancelled or subject to significant delays.
• Trenord has confirmed that guaranteed minimum service windows will be maintained from 0600 hours local time to 0900 hours local time (0500 hours UTC to 0800 hours UTC) and from 1800 hours local time to 2100 hours local time (1700 hours UTC to 2000 hours UTC) on Monday (02 January), during which only designated trains will operate. Outside these protected time bands, service reliability is expected to be significantly reduced.
• The strike is expected to impact key commuter routes and airport connections, including services linking Milan Cadorna and Stabio with Malpensa Airport (MXP).
• Trenord has stated that replacement bus services may be activated on select routes in the event of train cancellations.
