As per reports, continued adverse weather conditions across Tunisia have resulted in multiple road closures and high-risk traffic axes as of Tuesday (20 January).
• The National Road Safety Observatory and National Guard units issued advisories urging the public to avoid non-essential travel as flooding, water accumulation, and reduced visibility were reported on several national and regional roads.
• As of 1200 hours local time (1100 hours UTC), authorities confirmed that multiple road axes remain cut off or classified as high-risk, with monitoring and clearance operations ongoing.
• As per reports issued on Tuesday (20 January), several road axes across Tunisia remain blocked or classified as high-risk due to adverse weather conditions. Sections of National Road GP3 linking Tunis and Bizerte are affected by significant water accumulation, rendering portions of the route unsafe for traffic. Localized flooding has been reported along National Road GP1 connecting Tunis, Hammamet, and Sousse, resulting in traffic disruptions on affected stretches.
• In addition, multiple regional roads in Nabeul Governorate, particularly low-lying sections near wadis, are currently impassable due to overflow and surface flooding. Several local roads across Zaghouan Governorate have been impacted by runoff and mud accumulation, creating hazardous driving conditions. Selected road sections in Kairouan Governorate are affected by rising water levels, restricting vehicular movement in vulnerable areas.
• Furthermore, roads crossing seasonal wadis in Siliana Governorate have been temporarily cut off due to overflow, while several rural and secondary roads in Beja and Jendouba Governorates are classified as high-risk because of slippery surfaces and reduced visibility. Authorities have indicated that the list of affected roads remains dynamic and is subject to change depending on rainfall intensity, drainage conditions, and ongoing clearance operations.
