Update on TLP protests in Pakistan as of Tuesday (14 October)

As per reports, following are the latest updates on the Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) protests in Pakistan as of Tuesday (14 October):

• At least five people, including a police officer, were killed and dozens of officers injured when thousands of members of a radical Islamist group clashed with security personnel on Monday (13 October) in Pakistan’s Punjab province.
• In Lahore, hundreds of TLP supporters took to the streets on Monday (13 October), blocking key intersections and damaging vehicles in protest at what they called a brutal crackdown.
• In Burewala, five police officers, including a deputy superintendent, were injured when TLP activists clashed with local law enforcers.
• In Faisalabad, demonstrators blocked the Chenab Chowk for nearly two hours, forcing the Government College University Faisalabad to postpone its scheduled examinations.
• Dozens of protesters obstructed the national highway at Mian Channu for half an hour, while in Bahawalnagar, TLP members blocked the Bahawalnagar–Head Sulemanki Road near Minchinabad, prompting another round of arrests and the registration of criminal cases under multiple charges.
• In Karachi, TLP activists organised protests in North Karachi and New Karachi to denounce the police action in Punjab.
• Wazir Ahmad Rizvi, the group’s Balochistan emir, has reportedly called on protesters to disperse and converge on Lahore’s Data Darbar shrine on Friday (17 October).
• As of Monday (13 October) evening, normalcy was reported in Islamabad and Rawalpindi, with the traffic flow restored, with the Faizabad interchange remained closed.
• Mobile internet services disrupted since the beginning of the protest, was also restored in most of the areas.
