The Kurukshetra Police has issued a traffic advisory in view of Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit to Kurukshetra on Friday (03 October). The following are the details of the traffic advisory which is effective from the afternoon of Thursday (02 October) till the evening of Friday (03 October):
• Entry of heavy vehicles has been banned in the Kurukshetra city and the police have set up checkposts on all roads leading to the city.
• Vehicles from Kaithal and Patiala heading towards Saharanpur, Haridwar, Himachal Pradesh and Yamunanagar area near Uttarakhand will have to commute via Pehwa Naipass (NH-152), Ismailabad Bypass, Thol, Kurdi, Nalvi and Shahabad to reach their destinations.
• Vehicles commuting from Kaithal towards Saharanpur, Haridwar or further to Uttar Pradesh, Indri, Tadwa and Yamunanagar area, will have to travel from Pehwa to Dhand and Kaithal to Dhand. Traffic from Dhand will not proceed to Kurukshetra and instead use Kaul, Nigattu Nilokheri and Indri to reach their destination.
• All the traffic from Patiala and Punjab towards Pehwa, and towards other destinations such as Karnal, Panipat, Sonipat, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi cannot travel via Kurukshetra. Vehicles can use alternate routes such as Pehwa, Dhand and Kaul to reach their destination.
• Vehicles that usually head from Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh via Ladwa, Pehwa, Kaithal, Jita Sangrur, Patiala and Kurukshetra can instead reach their destination via Ladwa, Babain, Shahabad, Nalvi, Thol, Ismailabad and Pehwa instead of passing through Kurukshetra.
• Traffic from Yamunanagar area, Pehwa and Punjab that typically travels via Ladwa and Kurukshetra can instead go via Ladwa, Babain, Shahabad, Nalvi, Thol and Ismailabad.
• Vehicles that typically commute from Jita and Yamunanagar via Ladwa and Kurukshetra towards Dhand, Kaithal and beyond can reach their destination from Ladwa via Indri, Bhadaso, Nilokheri, Dhand and Kaithal.
• Additionally, the police have requested all to not drive towards Brahmosarovar without permission and to use alternate routes during the arrival of Amit Shah on Friday (03 October).
