Weather advisory issued for Thailand due to Typhoon Bualoi from Sunday (28 September)

The Thai Meteorological Department has issued a weather advisory at 2300 hours on Saturday (27 September), warning of the impacts of Typhoon Bualoi.

• The typhoon was located over the middle South China Sea at 2200 hours (local time) on Saturday (27 September), with maximum sustained winds of around 120 km/h, moving west-northwest at 20 km/h.
• Thailand is forecast to be affected from Sunday (28 September) to Tuesday (30 September), with strong monsoon activity linked to the storm. Heavy rain is likely in many areas, with isolated very heavy rainfall forecast in the North, Northeast, East, and along the southwest coast.
• Risks of flash floods and overflowing waterways are heightened, particularly near foothills and low-lying regions.
• Strong winds are forecast to generate waves of 2–3 metres in the upper Andaman Sea and upper Gulf of Thailand, rising above 3 metres in thunderstorms.
• All vessels in the Andaman Sea have been advised to exercise caution, with small boats instructed to remain ashore from Sunday (28 September) to Tuesday (30 September).
• The advisory remains in effect until 0500 hours (local time) on Sunday (28 September).
