Severe thunderstorm warning issued for Texas on Sunday (21 September)

As per reports, the National Weather Service (NWS) in Fort Worth has issued a severe thunderstorm warning on Sunday (21 September) effective until 1815 hours local time (2300 hours UTC) Wise, Cooke, and Montague counties.

• The storm was reportedly located over Bowie, Texas, moving southeast at 25 meter per hour.
• Forecast hazards include wind gusts of up to 70 meter per hour and hail up to one inch in diameter.
• The NWS has warned of potential damage to vehicles from hail, considerable tree damage, and wind-related impacts to mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings.
• Areas expected to be affected include Bowie, Sunset, Prairie Point, Stoneburg, Rosston, Mallard, Fruitland, Park Springs, Montague, and Forestburg.
• Additional severe thunderstorm warnings remain active until 1845 hours local time (2345 hours UTC) in parts of North Texas, including Denton, Lewisville, Carrollton, Flower Mound, Wylie, and surrounding communities, with some storms producing hail up to two inches in diameter.
• A broader severe thunderstorm watch is also in effect for portions of Texas and southern Oklahoma until 2200 hours local time (0400 hours UTC Monday 22 September) covering cities such as Wichita Falls, Graham, Gainesville, Jacksboro, and Denison. Lower-level risks extend to the Dallas–Fort Worth metro area, Paris, Abilene, San Angelo, Childress, and Brownwood.
• Risks include lightning strikes, flash flooding in localized areas, and dangerous driving conditions due to heavy rainfall.
