As per reports, on Saturday (10 May) and Sunday (11 May), multiple events in Rome — including the Race for the Cure, parades, a pilgrimage, a football match, and public works — will significantly impact traffic and public transport.
• The 26th edition of the Race for the Cure, the world’s largest breast cancer awareness marathon, will take place at Circus Maximus on Saturday (10 May) and Sunday (11 May), featuring around 100,000 participants and including a two kilometres walk, a five Kilometres open race, and a 10 kilometres competitive race.
• Roads affected by the marathon include via Petroselli, piazza Venezia, via del Corso, via dei Serpenti, via delle Terme di Caracalla, and others in central Rome. Closures begin from 1400 hours (local time) on Saturday (10 May) and extend until 1430 hours (local time) on Sunday (11 May).
• A total of 38 public bus and tram lines will be rerouted during the event, including lines 3, 8, H, 23, 30, 40, 44, 46, 51, 52, 53, 60, 62, 63, 64, 70, 71, 75, 80, 81, 83, 85, 87, 118, 160, 170, 190F, 280, 492, 628, 715, 716, 781, 916F, C3, N716, NMC, and NME.
• Bus frequencies will be increased for access to Vatican City and the San Pietro area, specifically on lines 23, 32, 40, 49, 62, 64, 70, 83, 85, 87, 105, 118, 246, 492, 495, 792, and 916. On Sunday (12 May), additional services will also be provided on lines 916F and 982.
• Anti-Fascism Parade is scheduled on Saturday (10 May), from 1600 hours (local time) to 2000 hours (local time) on Saturday (10 May), a parade of 200 people will move from Piazzale Aldo Moro to Piazza dell’Immacolata. Road closures and vehicle removal will occur along the route.
• Procession from Piazza della Repubblica is scheduled on Sunday (10 May), from 1400 hours (local time) to 1800 hours (local time), a 3,500-person march will proceed through major roads like via Cavour and via dei Fori Imperiali. Multiple bus lines will be diverted, including C3, H, 51, 60, 64, 85, 118, and 170.
• Piazza Santi Apostoli Event is scheduled for Saturday (10 May), from 1000 hours (local time) to 1300 hours (local time), limited circulation and parking bans will be in effect around via Cesare Battisti and piazza Venezia due to a scheduled event.
• From 2000 hours (local time) on Saturday (10 May) until 1200 hours (local time) on Sunday (11 May), the D19 motorway connection to Rome’s GRA (Grande Raccordo Anulare) will be closed due to bridge installation at Tor Vergata.
• A 2,800-person pilgrimage to San Giovanni in Laterano will affect roads on Saturday (10 May), from via Ostiense to piazza San Giovanni. Several bus routes will face detours.
• Iulia Run, a local race is scheduled on Saturday (10 May), from 0900 hours (local time) to 1300 hours (local time) will take place near Corso Trieste, impacting local streets and requiring the temporary suspension of some bus stops.
• The Lazio vs. Juventus football match at the Stadio Olimpico on Saturday (10 May) at 1800 hours (local time) will prompt traffic measures, including parking bans around Foro Italico, with public transit access to the stadium available via designated bus lines.
