As per reports, the municipal mobility secretariats stated that the traffic restriction is to be imposed from Wednesday (15 April) onwards, from every Monday to Friday until 31 July, across several major urban centers in Colombia, to manage traffic congestion and improve air quality.
The restrictions for various cities and for various vehicles with their number plates are as follows:
• In Medellín and Aburrá Valley, the private cars with ‘4’ and ‘6’ as the first digits of the number plate, and Motorcycles with ‘4’ as the last digits of the number plate, are restricted between 0500 and 2000 hours local time (1000 hours UTC and 0100 hours UTC on following day), and taxis with ‘8’ as the last digit are restricted between 0600 and 2000 hours local time (1100 hours UTC and 0100 hours UTC on the following day) on every Monday through Friday until 31 July.
• In Cali, the private cars with ‘5’ and ‘6’ as the last digits of the number plate, are restricted between 0600 and 1900 hours local time (1100 hours UTC and 0000 hours UTC on the following day) on every Monday through Friday until 31 July.
• In Pereira, the private cars and Motorcycles with ‘4’ and ‘5’ as the last digits of the number plate, are restricted between 0600 and 2000 hours local time (1100 hours UTC and 0100 hours UTC on following day), and taxis with ‘6’ as the last digit are restricted between 0600 and 0300 hours local time (on the following day) (1100 hours UTC and 0800 hours UTC on the following day) on every Monday through Friday until 31 July.
• In Bucaramanga (Metro Area), the private cars and Motorcycles with ‘3’ and ‘4’ as the last digits of the number plate, are restricted between 0600 and 2000 hours local time (1100 hours UTC and 0100 hours UTC on following day), and taxis with ‘5’ and ‘6’ as the last digits are restricted between 0700 and 2100 hours local time (1200 hours UTC and 0200 hours UTC on the following day) on every Monday through Friday until 31 July.
