As per reports, the National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory and extreme heat warning affecting large parts of Northern and Central California, in effect until 2000 hours local time on Friday (20 March) (0300 hours UTC on 21 March).
• A heat advisory is in place across the San Francisco Bay Area and Central Coast, including parts of Marin, Sonoma, San Francisco, Alameda, Santa Clara, Monterey, San Benito, San Luis Obispo, and Santa Barbara counties, including major urban centres such as San Francisco and San Jose.
• Temperatures in these areas are expected to reach the low to mid-90s degrees Fahrenheit across inland regions and the 80s degrees Fahrenheit along coastal areas, with some interior Central Coast locations potentially reaching the upper 90s degrees Fahrenheit.
• Additionally, an extreme heat warning has been issued for higher elevation and mountainous regions, including the Santa Lucia Mountains, San Luis Obispo County Mountains, Santa Ynez Mountains (Eastern and Western ranges), and Santa Barbara County Interior Mountains. These regions are expected to experience temperatures as high as 100 degrees Fahrenheit.
