As per reports, emergency response teams from the Hartford Fire Department responded to a fire incident on the afternoon of Monday (16 March) in the Upper Albany neighborhood of Hartford.
• Firefighters were dispatched to the area of Homestead Avenue following reports of a fire at a vacant commercial building.
• According to local fire officials and representatives from Hartford Fire Fighters Local 760 and observed heavy smoke coming from a two-story vacant structure.
• The building involved in the incident is the historic Stanley Rockwell Factory, a nearly 100-year-old industrial facility constructed in 1929 for metal heat-treatment operations. The structure is recognized on the National Register of Historic Places due to its historical and industrial significance.
• Fire crews entered the building to conduct interior operations, performed a search of the premises, and were able to extinguish the fire. After suppression of the flames, firefighters remained at the scene to conduct overhaul operations to ensure that remaining hot spots were fully extinguished and to prevent rekindling.
• Authorities confirmed that no injuries were reported among firefighters or members of the public during the incident. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined and is currently under investigation by the Hartford Fire Marshal’s Office.
