Yellow thunderstorm alert issued across multiple departments in France on Saturday (18 July)

As per reports, between 1400 hours local time (1200 hours UTC) and 2000 hours local time (1800 hours UTC) on Saturday (18 July), Météo-France has placed Yonne Department under a yellow thunderstorm alert, with the warning primarily affecting the southern half of the department.

• Meteorological authorities forecast increasing atmospheric instability during the afternoon, with rainfall and thunderstorms expected to develop from Burgundy to Alsace, accompanied by the potential for locally hazardous weather conditions.
• Yellow thunderstorm alerts are also in effect across Cher, Côte-d’Or, Jura, Doubs, Haute-Marne, Meurthe-et-Moselle, Moselle, Nièvre, Bas-Rhin, Haut-Rhin, Haute-Saône, Saône-et-Loire, Vosges and Territoire de Belfort.
• Orange heatwave alerts remain in force across Alpes-Maritimes, Bouches-du-Rhône, Corse-du-Sud, Haute-Corse, Gard, Hérault and Var, where elevated temperatures continue despite cooler conditions in northern and eastern France.
