As per reports, emergency crews in Monroe County are working to contain a 50-acre wildfire near Tellico Plains on Tuesday (04 March). According to the Tennessee Division of Forestry’s wildfire map, the fire is in the approximate area of Rafter Road, and as of 1300 hours (local time), it was estimated to be 50 acres in size and zero per cent contained.

A spokesperson for the Division of Forestry said the fire had jumped a ridge. He added that they are calling in a helicopter and two planes to drop water on the fire.
