• Between 1500-0000 hours on Sunday (18 May), Bescom’s helpline received 33,335 calls from across the city as heavy rainfall and strong winds led to transformer failures, uprooted electric poles and snapped transmission lines.
• Bescom officials stated 7,749 complaints were officially registered and routed to respective divisions for repair work.
• The worst-hit areas included parts of Adugodi, where a transformer exploded around 0300 hours in Nanjappa Layout. Similar disruptions were reported in northern and northeastern parts of the city as well.
