Water disruptions reported in Botshabelo and Thaba Nchu through Tuesday (15 July)

As per reports, the Mangaung Metropolitan Municipality has announced a planned 36-hour water shutdown in Botshabelo and Thaba Nchu, the Free State province of South Africa, from 0800 hours (local time) on Monday (14 July), to 2000 hours (local time) on Tuesday (15 July).

• The shutdown is part of scheduled winter infrastructure maintenance aimed at improving the efficiency and reliability of the region’s water supply system.
• Reports suggest that Vaal Central Water, in coordination with the Mangaung Metro Municipality, is carrying out maintenance operations that include cleaning Lesaka Reservoir No. four, repairing the pipeline between Lesaka Reservoir No. four and the Pump Station, repairing the Rustfontein–Lesaka Rising Main Line, and cleaning the Botshabelo Section B Reservoir.
• Water tankers have been arranged and will be dispatched to affected areas throughout the shutdown period to support residents and essential services.
