According to the Volcanic Ash Advisory Center (VAAC) Darwin and Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation Center’s (PVMBG), explosive activity at Ibu Volcano produced a volcanic ash plume rising to an altitude of approximately 6,000 ft (1800 meters) or flight level 060 on Wednesday (08 October). The ash cloud was reported moving northeast at 10 knots (18 kilometers).
The Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (CVGHM) reported ash emissions at 400 meters above the summit. The volcanic ash is forecasted to dissipate within three to six hours.
