As per reports, a violent attack was reported in the Kadangband area of Imphal on Wednesday (01 January) morning. The suspected militants fired several rounds from sophisticated arms and hurled bombs from their hill positions in Kangpokpi district to the low-lying Kadangband area in Imphal West district.

• Village volunteers stationed in the area returned fire while additional security forces were dispatched to bring the situation under control. No injuries were reported by the local volunteers or the local security forces.
• Villagers in the nearby areas were evacuated and taken to safer locations.
• Security forces seized a huge cache of arms and ammunition during search operations in the Bishnupur and Thoubal districts, including sophisticated weapons. The police is conducting further investigation of the event.
