As per reports, authorities in Chile’s Metropolitan Region are enforcing vehicle circulation restrictions on Monday (22 June), as part of the 2026 Critical Episode Management Plan (GEC) aimed at reducing air pollution during the winter season.
• The restrictions are in effect from 0730 hours local time (1130 hours UTC) to 2100 hours local time (0100 hours UTC on 23 June) across the Province of Santiago and the municipalities of San Bernardo and Puente Alto.
• For Monday (22 June), circulation is prohibited for Cars, station wagons, and similar vehicles with a green environmental sticker (registered before September 2011) whose license plates end in eight or nine. Cars, station wagons, and similar vehicles without a green sticker whose license plates end in six, seven, eight, or nine.
• In addition, vehicles without a green sticker remain subject to a permanent circulation ban within the Américo Vespucio Ring, regardless of license plate number.
• Compliance checks are being conducted by Carabineros de Chile, municipal inspectors, and officials from the Ministry of Transport. Drivers who violate the restrictions may face fines ranging from one to 1.5 UTM, equivalent to approximately CLP 68,647–102,970, subject to the ruling of the relevant local police court.
