Update on wildfires in California as of Thursday (13 August)

As per reports, on Thursday (13 August), CAL FIRE reported multiple active wildfire incidents across California, including the Bug Fire in Lassen and Sierra counties, Gann Fire in Calaveras County, Timber Fire in Monterey County, MP18 Fire in Humboldt County and Plains Fire in San Luis Obispo County.

• The Bug Fire, which started on 08 August, had burned approximately 70,757 acres and was three percent contained. The Gann Fire in Calaveras County, which started on 03 August, had affected approximately 10,339 acres and was 100 percent contained.
• The Timber Fire in Monterey County, which started on 09 August, had burned approximately 4,044 acres and was seven percent contained. The MP18 Fire in Humboldt County had burned approximately 3,613 acres and was six percent contained after starting on Friday (07 August).
• The Plains Fire in San Luis Obispo County, which started on Wednesday (12 August), had burned approximately 2,500 acres and was 20 percent contained. Other active incidents included the Buzzard Fire in Kern County, the Hatchet Fire in Tulare County and the Foster Fire in Imperial County.
• Additional active incidents included the Holser Fire in Ventura County, Talbot Fire in Placer County, Valley Fire in Madera County, Hawk Fire in El Dorado County, Flat Fire and Yuba Fire in Nevada County, and Dennis Fire in El Dorado County. The affected areas ranged from 16 to 167 acres, with containment levels ranging from zero to 95 percent.
• CAL FIRE’s seasonal outlook indicates that significant fire potential in Northern California is expected to remain normal to above normal through September, particularly across mountainous areas and portions of the upper Sacramento Valley. Southern California is forecast to experience above-normal temperatures through September, supporting continued drying of fuels.
• The latest incident update lists 503 structures threatened. No civilian or firefighter injuries or fatalities, and no structures destroyed or damaged, are reported in the incident fact sheet.
• Evacuation Orders are currently in effect for zones MRY-F023, MRY-F025, MRY-F026, MRY-F027 and MRY-F028-A.
• Evacuation Warnings are in effect for zones MRY-F021-B, MRY-F022, MRY-F024, MRY-F028-B and MRY-F029.
