As per reports, Ukraine’s Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced that the country requires USD 37 billion of foreign assistance for the year 2024. The leaders of support are unchanged, which includes the European Union, the US, the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Japan, Canada, the UK, and the World Bank.
• Heavy shelling was reported around the Kherson region on Wednesday (03 January). Oleksandr Prokudin, the governor of the region, announced one person was killed in the village of Sadove as a result of artillery fire.
• Russia’s defence ministry on Thursday (04 January) stated that its forces had allegedly intercepted a Ukrainian attack on Russian facilities in Crimea and had destroyed 10 Ukrainian missiles over the peninsula.
• Farmers in Poland blockaded the Medyka border crossing with Ukraine on Thursday (04 January), resuming the protest intended to secure government subsidies for corn and prevent tax increases.
• The NATO chief, Jens Stoltenberg, announced that they will convene a meeting between NATO diplomats and officials from Ukraine on 10 January after an increase in attacks from Russia has been reported recently.
• A Russian missile strike in Kyiv, reported on 29 December, killed 32 people, as per the announcement made by authorities on Thursday (04 January).
