The China Meteorological Administration (CMA) has issued a blue typhoon warning for Typhoon Krowan on Friday (04 September).
• At 0500 hours (local time), Typhoon Krowan, the 24th typhoon of 2026, was located over the eastern East China Sea, approximately 335 kilometres northeast of Naha City, Ryukyu Islands, near 29.2 degrees North, 128.1 degrees East. The system had maximum sustained winds of 23 m/s (Beaufort Force 9), a minimum central pressure of 990 hPa, and a Beaufort Force 7 wind radius of 220–300 km.
• The CMA forecasts that Typhoon Krowan will remain nearly stationary before gradually turning southward from Saturday (05 September), with little change in intensity.
• From 0800 hours (local time) on Friday (04 September) to 0800 hours (local time) on Saturday (05 September), gale-force winds of Beaufort Force 6–7, with gusts reaching Force 8–9, are expected across the southern Yellow Sea, most of the East China Sea, waters east of Taiwan, the Bashi Channel, the southern coast of Jiangsu, Shanghai, the Yangtze River Estuary, Hangzhou Bay, Zhejiang and northern Fujian. Winds over the northern East China Sea, near the typhoon’s centre, are forecast to reach Beaufort Force 8–9 with gusts up to Force 10.
• During the same period, under the influence of the remnants of Typhoon Saudel and its peripheral cloud bands, heavy to torrential rainfall is expected across southern Hunan, central and southern Jiangxi, eastern and central-southern Fujian, northeastern Guangxi and most of Taiwan. Extremely heavy rainfall is forecast across parts of southern Hunan, southwestern Jiangxi and eastern Fujian, with localized rainfall totals of 250–280 mm expected in eastern Fujian.
