As per reports, Congress MP and AICC General Secretary KC Venugopal stated that the Indian National Congress (INC) will highlight alleged irregularities in the electoral roll revision process by the Election Commission of India (ECI) during a demonstration in Bengaluru on Tuesday (05 August). The announcement comes in the wake of the draft electoral rolls for Bihar, published on Friday (01 August) under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2025, in which approximately 35 lakh electors were recorded as either migrated or untraceable.
• In addition, the controversy has intensified after former Karnataka minister H Nagesh sought a copy of a 2023 complaint regarding alleged forged entries in the electoral rolls for Bengaluru’s Mahadevapura constituency.
• The Chief Electoral Officer’s office has denied receiving such a complaint, prompting Nagesh to request documentation, reportedly misplaced by the Congress party.
• The INC has raised concerns regarding the scale of voter exclusions and plans to submit a memorandum at the ECI office in Bengaluru, followed by a public address. A meeting of the INDIA opposition bloc has also been scheduled in Delhi on Thursday (07 August) to deliberate on related electoral matters.
