As per the Australian Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) latest update issued at 1200 hours (local time) on Wednesday (25 March), Tropical Cyclone Narelle was located within 35 kilometres of 17.5 degrees South, 119.6 degrees East, 330 kilometres north northeast of Port Hedland and 460 kilometres northeast of Karratha. The system is currently under category two alert with sustained winds near the centre of 95 kilometres per hour with wind gusts to 130 kilometres per hour

Following are the latest updates available:

• The system is moving west-southwest, roughly parallel to the Pilbara coast. Narelle is larger than usual, and although the cyclone is located well north of the Pilbara, gales are likely to extend to the coast on Wednesday (25 March). Later on Friday (27 March), Narelle will turn towards the south, likely passing close to the North West Cape as a Category 4 system. There is the potential for a severe impact on the far western Pilbara coast late Thursday (26 March), extending south to Denham during Friday (27 March).
• On Saturday (28 March), Narelle is expected to move to the southeast, with impacts extending to the Central West, then further inland and south across the South West Land Division.
• Destructive wind gusts of up to 260 kilometres per hour are expected to develop west of Onslow later on Thursday (26 March) as Cyclone Narelle approaches the northwest coast, with impacts potentially extending south to Carnarvon by Friday (27 March). Additionally, destructive gusts exceeding 125 kilometres per hour may affect the Pilbara coast near Karratha from late Wednesday (25 March) or early Thursday (26 March), spreading to Exmouth during Thursday (26 March) and further south to Denham by Friday (27 March).
• Tides will be higher than normal between Port Hedland and North West Cape. Large waves may cause localised flooding of low-lying coastal areas.
• A warning zone has been established from Bidyadanga to Exmouth, including Port Hedland, Karratha and Onslow, and extending inland to Pannawonica and Millstream. Moreover, the watch alert is active in Ningaloo to Overlander Roadhouse, including Coral Bay, Carnarvon and Denham, and extending inland to Gascoyne Junction.
