As per reports, the following are the latest updates on the TRA Jatibarang fire as of Friday (02 October):
• A large fire broke out again in zone one of the Jatibarang Final Processing Site (TPA) in Semarang City, Central Java, on Friday (02 October) at around 0615 hours (local time).
• The fire at Jatibarang Landfill in Semarang has continued for three days, with the blaze in zone one expanding at around 0615 hours (local time), while fires have also reignited in zone two and new hotspots have emerged in zone three.
• Firefighting operations remain ongoing, and further spread of the fire cannot be ruled out.
• The Head of the Semarang City Health Service, M. Abdul Hakam, advised residents to take preventive measures against smoke exposure and remain cautious of potential public health impacts arising from the ongoing landfill fire.
