As per reports, British Columbia (BC) has been significantly impacted by severe wildfires, due to extreme heat with over 40 degrees of temperature and dry conditions as of Tuesday (09 July). Multiple wildfires are burning, with several areas under evacuation orders and road closures.
The areas that have been affected the most are the Cariboo Fire Centre, Kamloops Fire Centre, Prince George Fire Centre, Southeast Fire Centre, Northwest Fire Centre, Coastal Fire Centre.
• The province has issued a notification banning campfires across BC starting Friday (12 July). The exception to the ban is in the Haida Gwaii Forest District.
• Fort Nelson First Nation has issued a wildfire evacuation order for riverside reserves as well as the Kahntah Reserve.
• Cooling centres have been opened in Vancouver within public spaces such as libraries and community centres.
