According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), the following are the latest updates on
• The centre of the eye of Tropical Storm Queenie was positioned at 685 kilometres northeast of Itbayat, Batanes, as of 0500 hours (local time) on Sunday (27 September). The Tropical Storm also intensified slightly and continues to move in the north-northwest direction.
• Queenie is forecast to move generally northeastward for most of the forecast period. On the current forecast track, the typhoon centre may exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Sunday afternoon (27 September) around afternoon hours. Once outside the PAR, the system is expected to accelerate northeastward towards the sea south of mainland Japan.
• The Tropical Storm is expected to intensify further while moving over the sea south of the Okinawa Islands. After reaching its peak intensity, Queenie is forecast to begin weakening on Monday (28 September).
• The Severe Tropical Storm is likely to intensify into a typhoon and will strengthen further towards Okinawa Islands. It is expected to begin to weaken by Monday (28 September).
• No Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal is in effect as of the latest update available.
