Update on rainfall across Gujarat on Monday (26 August)

As per the latest India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast, red alerts are issued for heavy rainfall across all districts except Patan, Mahesana, Gandhinagar, Porbandar and Gir Somnath on Monday (26 August).

• Gujarat Chief Minister has instructed all officials to evacuate residents from low-lying areas to safer locations.
• In the Morbi district, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) are conducting a search operation to find seven individuals that were swept away on Sunday (25 August).
• The Narmada River has crossed the dangerous level in Bharuch and over 200 people have been evacuated from the Golden Bridge area.
• Anand city has reported seven inches of rainfall resulting in waterlogging across low-lying areas.
• Several societies in Padra, Vadodara have been been flooded amid heavy rainfall.
• In Ahmedabad, heavy rainfall is being reported in Narol, Naroda, CTM, Nikol, SG Highway, SP Ring Road, CG Road Area, Ranip, Wadaj, and Thakkarbapanagar areas amongst others.
• A holiday has been declared in Vadodara district on Tuesday (27 August) for schools amid heavy rainfall.
• 23 gates of the Narmada Dam were opened, as the water level reached 135.30 metres.
• 15 gates of the Ukai Dam have been opened.
• The NDRF are deployed across 13 districts.
