As per reports, drivers of commercial vehicles, including trucks and tankers, stopped work in parts of Madhya Pradesh on Monday (01 January) to protest the new law regarding hit-and-run cases.

• Road blockades were seen in some places in the state due to protests and long queues were witnessed at petrol pumps.
• Drivers also blocked the Mumbai-Agra National Highway and a few roads in Indore, affecting the movement of vehicles and essential commodities.
• In Bhopal, drivers staged an agitation at Lalghati and stopped city buses and vehicles, and some protesters also gathered at Board Office Square in MP Nagar.
• In Indore, buses were parked on the road at Gangwal bus stand as part of the protest.
• Shahpura Bhitoni Petroleum Plant was not supplying petrol or diesel on Monday (01 January), which resulted in a lack of fuel at the petrol stations.Fuel tankers were stuck in some places due to road blockades, however, shortage of fuel at petrol pumps has not yet been reported.
• Allegedly, an attempt was made to block the road at Indore’s Vijay Nagar intersection, however, the police resorted to mild lathi-charge on protesting drivers.
