As per reports, the following are the latest developments pertaining to the Pakistan General Election as of Thursday (22 February);

• The Supreme Court has disposed of a plea seeking the 08-February General Elections to be declared void and null after the petitioner failed to attend two consecutive hearings.
• PML-N and the PPP leaders have announced to share power in order to form the next government. PPP leader Asif Ali Zardari will be the joint candidate for the president’s office and PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif is the candidate for the post of the prime minister.
• Jamaat-i-Islami Senator Mushtaq Ahmad has ‘demanded’ that Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja should resign from his post amid proceedings under Article 6 (high treason) of the Constitution be initiated against him.
• The political parties including Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), and Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) have announced to initiate nation-wide protests against alleged rigging in the General Election 2024. Protest dates have not been announced as of yet.
