As per reports, the following updates are available on multiple rallies scheduled in South Korea pertaining to the impeachment trial of President President Yoon Suk Yeol on Saturday (01 March) –
• At 1300 hours, conservative groups such as the National Headquarters for the Movement to Establish a Correct Korea (Daegukbon), led by Jeon Kwang-hoon, who leads the Sarang Jeil Church, and the Liberty Unification Party will hold a rally opposing the impeachment of President Yoon near Gwanghwamun Station.
50,000 participants are anticipated.
• At 1300 hours, the conservative group ‘Save Korea’ led by Son Hyun-bo of the Busan World Road Church will also hold a ‘March 1st National Emergency Prayer Meeting’ near the National Assembly in Yeongdeungpo-gu. The number of reported participants is around 50,000.
• The conservative student group ‘Freedom University’ (formerly known as the Freedom Protection University Solidarity), which opposes the impeachment, also plans to hold a rally at Daehangno at noon and then march to Bosingak.
• Around 30 people, including lawmakers Kim Ki-hyun and Na Kyung-won, will attend the ‘Save Korea’ rally in Yeouido. It has also been reported that some lawmakers, including Rep. Yoon Sang-hyun, will attend the Gwanghwamun rally led by Jeon Kwang-hoon.
• At 1700 hours, an impeachment rally hosted by the pro-impeachment group, “Yoon Seok-yeol’s Immediate Resignation and Social Reform Emergency Action (Emergency Action)” is also scheduled to take place near Gyeongbokgung Station. The number of registered participants is approximately 30,000. There are plans to hold a large-scale impeachment rally near Gyeongbokgung Station and march to the Constitutional Court.
• At 1400 hours, the 129th National Candlelight Festival will be held at Exit 1 of Anguk Station near the Constitutional Court in Jongno-gu, hosted by the Candlelight Movement.
• At 1530 hours, the five opposition parties (Democratic Party of Korea, Fatherland Innovation Party, Progressive Party, Basic Income Party, and Social Democratic Party) will hold a “National Rally to Call for the Impeachment of Yoon Seok-yeol to End the Civil War and Protect the Democratic Constitution” near Gwanghwamun.
• From 1700 hours, the five opposition parties will join the Pan-Citizen March centered on emergency actions.
