According to reports, on Tuesday (02 January), Maratha quota agitation activist Manoj Jarange urged the Maharashtra government to address the community’s demand for reservation by passing a resolution to that effect by 20 January. He stated that if this resolution is passed, there would be no need for members of the community to organize a protest march to Mumbai to press for the reservation demand.
Jarange made these remarks after holding talks with Chief Minister Eknath Shinde via video link from his native Antarwali Sarati village in Jalna district. The demand for reservation for the Maratha community has been a longstanding issue, and activists are seeking prompt action from the government to address their concerns.
