As per reports, the latest situational updates in Manipur as of Thursday (04 January) are as follows:
• The death toll in the Lilong Chingjao firing incident which took place on Monday (01 January), has risen to five after the death of an injured in treatment on Wednesday (03 January).
• Chief Minister N Biren Singh has warned miscreants, emphasizing that they will be held accountable if the Centre reimposes the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act (AFSPA) in valley areas.
• The Committee on Tribal Unity (CoTU) and the Indigenous Tribal Leaders’ Forum (ITLF) had called for 24-hour shutdown till Wednesday (03 January) midnight in regions dominated by the Kuki tribes.
