As per reports, a significant weather disturbance is impacting northwestern Italy as of Thursday (17 April), which is expected to persist until at least the end of Friday (18 April) across northwestern Italy.

• The disturbance is expected to persist for 48 hours, bringing heavy rainfall, strong winds, and snowfall across the Alps, and a heightened risk of flooding and landslides.
• The region of Piedmont was among the first affected on Wednesday (16 April), with 30 residents evacuated following two landslides in Verbano-Cusio-Ossola.
• Rail services on the Simplon line to Switzerland have been suspended between Varzo and Domodossola due to flooding. Two bridges in Pinerolo were closed as the Lemina torrent swelled. To ease traffic flow, 1,045 road construction sites on the Anas network, around 80 percent of all works, have been temporarily removed until 05 May, while detours have been arranged for the remaining sites.
• As of Thursday (17 April), northern Italy is experiencing widespread heavy rainfall, prompting the closure of several roads and at least one motorway for safety reasons. Gusts of wind, flooding, and landslides remain major concerns.
• Popular Easter destinations, including South Tyrol, Piedmont, and Lombardy (including Milan), are impacted.
• Coastal regions are also under alert, with storm waves of up to three metres forecast along the Mediterranean. The weather system is expected to deliver continued heavy rainfall, particularly in northern areas. The southern Apulia region is also expected to experience intense rainfall.
