Update on heavy rainfall and flooding affecting Pingtung – Tuesday (25 August)

As per reports, persistent heavy rainfall associated with a low-pressure zone and the southwest monsoon caused flooding and traffic disruptions across parts of Pingtung County on Tuesday (25 August).

• Pingtung County Government announced that work and classes will be suspended on Wednesday (26 August) in Chunri Township, Dewen Village and Dashe Village in Sandimen Township, Wanhua Village in Nanzhou Township, Wenfeng Village and Yanwen Village in Jiadong Township, and Dongxin Village and Neiguandi Village in Donggang Township.
• The Central Weather Administration (CWA) issued a Heavy Rainfall Advisory at approximately 1905 hours (local time) on Tuesday (25 August), covering Tainan City, Kaohsiung City, Pingtung County and the Hengchun Peninsula. The advisory remains in effect from the evening of Tuesday (25 August) through the early morning of Wednesday (26 August).
• As of 1800 hours (local time) on Tuesday (25 August), accumulated rainfall reached 281 mm in Zuoying District, Kaohsiung City; 255.5 mm in Shizi Township, Pingtung County; 241 mm in Fenggang Township, Pingtung County; 235.5 mm in Renwu District, Kaohsiung City; 229 mm in Xialiao Township, Pingtung County; and 225 mm in Danlu Township, Pingtung County.
