Update on former PM Khaleda Zia’s health as of Wednesday (03 December)

As per reports, following the are the latest updates on former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia’s health and associated security measures as of Wednesday (03 December):

• The Bangladesh Government declared the former prime minister an “Important Person (VVIP),” following which Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus’ office upgraded her security protocols on Tuesday (02 December). Her security detail now includes commandos of the Special Security Force (SSF), the President Guard Regiment (PGR), who are providing round-the-clock security at the Evercare Hospital in Dhaka.
• The chiefs of all three branches of the Bangladesh military visited Evercare Hospital on Tuesday (02 December) night. BNP leaders and activists have also gathered in front of Evercare Hospital, causing traffic disruptions in the area. While BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir urged party supporters not to crowd the hospital premises, several supporters are expected to continue gathering around the hospital.
• Two additional specialist medical teams from the United Kingdom (UK) and China are scheduled to arrive on Wednesday (03 December) to assist the medical board overseeing the treatment of former-PM Khaleda Zia.
