As per reports, following are the latest updates on the farmers’ Delhi Chalo protest as of Wednesday (21 February):

• Farmer union leader Gurnam Singh Charuni of the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) stated that farmers from Haryana will extend their full support and join the Delhi Chalo march scheduled for Wednesday (21 February), if oilseeds and Bajra crops are not included in the minimum support price (MSP).
• The Bharatiya Kisan Parishad (BKP) has announced a ‘Delhi Chalo’ march on Friday (23 February), to resume their protest against the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) and the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) over issues related to compensation for agricultural land. While the protest is not connected to the ‘Delhi Chalo’ march over MSP, the BKP has stated that the tactics of its protest will be similar, wherein farmers will attempt to march to Delhi, and blockade the Delhi-Noida interstate border.
• Heightened security deployment and traffic control on Delhi’s borders are likely on Wednesday (21 February) as farmers in Punjab resume their ‘Delhi Chalo’ march. The Singhu and Tikri borders with Haryana stay sealed, with heavy blockades likely on Delhi-Meerut Expressway and NH-9.
• The Punjab and Haryana High Court issued an oral observation on Tuesday (20 February) for farmers to avoid using tractors, trollies and JCBs to march to Delhi, instead travel by bus, reiterating that their right to protest is subject to reasonable restriction.
• Farmers from Punjab brought heavy machinery including hydraulic cranes and earthmovers to Shambhu on the Punjab-Haryana border, following which security arrangements were beefed up and high alert was issued for Tikri, Singhu and Ghazipur border on Tuesday (20 February).
