As per reports, the following are the latest updates, as of Friday (04 April), on the effects of the magnitude 7.7 earthquake that affected Myanmar on 28 March:

• Chief General Min Aung Hlaing, leader of Myanmar’s military junta, arrived in Bangkok on Thursday (03 April) to attend the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) Summit on Friday (04 April). He is expected to ask for aid from the leaders attending the summit. The leaders of Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, and Sri Lanka are expected to attend the summit.
• As of the evening of Thursday (03 April), Information Minister Maung Maung Ohn of Myanmar reported that the death toll from the earthquake has resulted in 3,145 casualties in Myanmar. An additional 4,589 people were injured and 221 others are still missing. Rescue efforts are being hampered by 40 degree Celsius temperatures in Naypyitaw.
• As per reports, as of Thursday (03 April), Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt stated that rescue efforts are ongoing at the collapse site of the 30-storey headquarters of the State Audit Office (SAO). Possible signs of life were detected in the rubble but no survivors were found. Eighty-one people are believed to still be missing at the site. Fifteen people have been confirmed dead at the site.
• As per reports, the Erawan Center released a situational update on Thursday (03 April). The centre reported the following update on casualties in the Bangkok Area: 35 injured individuals and 22 dead.
