As per reports, the following are the latest details of the strike that is underway by the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) Karamchari Ekta Union as of Friday (18 September):
• On Thursday (17 September), the Transport Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh appealed to bus drivers engaged by private operators for DTC services to call of their strike as most of their demands were accepted. A salary hike demand has not been accepted and the government will take this matter forward after a discussion with the Labour Department.
• Drivers have reportedly stated that the strike would continue on Friday (18 September), marking the fourth day of strike, until demands such as a hike in daily wage of INR 862, medical facilities, overtime payments and social security payments are adequately addressed.
• Meanwhile, drivers allegedly claim that police personnel were deployed at Nehru Place and Shadipur on Thursday (17 September) and protestors were lathicharged.
• Additionally, more than 3000 of nearly 6000 buses remained off the roads due to the ongoing strike. As most buses remained parked inside depots, disruptions were reported across ITO, Mandi House, Krishi Bhawan, Karol Bagh, Chanakyapuri, Daryaganj, Pragati Maidan, Laxmi Nagar and Kalu Sarai.
